Mehmed Sabahaddin Pasha
One of the most important political figures of the late XIX - early XX centuries in Europe. Prince Sabahaddin is one of the most important political figures of the late XIX - early XX centuries in Europe. His father Hamid Jamaladdin Pasha, served as Minister of Justice under Abdul Hamid. He came from the Abkhazian family Kuadzba, who settled in Istanbul at the end of the XVIII century. According to his grandmother, he was of sultan origin - one of the daughters of Abdul-Aziz was his grandmother. Sabahaddin became famous as an opponent of the monarchy, a thinker, a journalist and an orator. He was a kind of spiritual father of the Young Turk Revolution. In 1899 he emigrated to Paris, where he stayed until the overthrow of Abdul-Hamid in 1908. But he did not converge with the leaders of the Young Turks who carried out the pro-German policy, and again went to Paris. In early 1919, Sultan Mehmed VI proposed that he head a deputation from the Ottoman Empire at the Paris Peace Conference; in October 1919, he was offered the post of Minister of the Interior, but Sabahaddin refused all these proposals - by this time he had already departed from politics, being carried away by spiritualism and the occult.
