Abaza Ali Bey or Alibey Jin Ali Ali Bulutkapan - “Captive Cloud”




Year of birth: 1728 - 1773

Born in Abkhazia, hunting with several comrades and being 13 years old (Esyf-child name Ali Bey) was captured by a robber gang and sold to merchant Kiudr-Ahmet, who brought him to Egypt and resold Ibrahim Kyagay. Esiph on arrival in Egypt was given to the teaching and after 18 months, having shown his diligence and having great talents, at the age of 15 he already received responsible positions and already at 22 becomes a kashif (the second person in the house of the Mamluk head). Ali's talents and giftedness led to the fact that, as a result of a fierce struggle, at the age of 35 he became the ruler of Egypt-Sheikh el-Balat of the country. In 1770, Ali Bey took the "title of the Sultan of Egypt and both seas"; his name was pronounced in a hat in the mosques of Egypt and Hejaz. Since 1769, Ali Bey Tal was minting his own coin. He became known as Ali Bey al-Kabir the Great Ali Bey. Ali Bey was recognized as the “heir of the pharaohs. The main shrines of Christians and Muslims of the whole world were in his hands. He became known as the "Sultan of Egypt, Syria, two lands, two seas, two holy cities." He died at the age of 55 from injuries sustained during the uprising. Rasim Rushdie, a prominent figure in the Caucasus abroad, published a book about him in Egypt, Ali Bek Kabir. In all pre-revolutionary European and French encyclopedias, his biography of “Mamluk of Abkhaz origin” was described in detail, and after 152 years of Ottoman rule “managed to bring independence to Egypt, Syria, Palestine and Yemen”. In the center of Cairo, the Egyptians erected a monumental monument, where a bronze figure of Ali Bey on a horse stands on a pedestal.
